Security Baseline for New Servers and Hosting Accounts
New servers and hosting accounts should be hardened before they carry production workloads. Use unique credentials, enable multi-factor authentication where available, apply supported updates, restrict administrative access, configure backups, and verify monitoring.
For SSH, databases, control panels and application administration, use least privilege and avoid sharing root or administrator credentials between people or systems. Record recovery procedures before tightening access controls.
